Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — In 2022, South Carolina-based composer Nolan Stolz stopped in Albuquerque during one of his Route 66 road trips. He was so impressed that seven years later he has released a musical piece devoted to the Mother Road. Divided into eight movements, each musical section explores an aspect of the Route 66 Experience. Names include “AD 1926”, “Vacancy/No Vacancy”, “66 Ghost Towns” and “Neon Dreams”. The one most Albuquerqueans will recognize is titled “The Dog House.” After finishing the final composition of the suite earlier this year, Stolz has performances scheduled in Flagstaff, Tulsa and Oklahoma City but none in New Mexico – yet. He’s talking with the Santa Fe Symphony about a potential performance, and also considering releasing a recorded version in the future.
