Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — Businesses along Albuquerque’s Central corridor are getting a facelift thanks to a new city grant program. The Fresh Coat Grant is providing funding for storefront improvements as the city prepares for Route 66’s centennial celebration. Forty-six businesses were selected to receive grants ranging from 15-hundred to 10-thousand dollars. Projects include everything from fresh paint to new public murals designed to brighten commercial properties along the historic roadway. City officials say the strong response could lead to similar programs in the future.
