A downtown Albuquerque restaurant known for its New Mexican cuisine and family-centered atmosphere is preparing to close its doors.
Chef and owner Marie Yniguez announced that My Mom’s, located at 500 4th Street NW, will permanently close on July 31.
Opened in 2022, the restaurant was created as a tribute to Yniguez’s mother and features family-inspired artwork and décor throughout the space. Since announcing the closure, Yniguez said the restaurant has seen an outpouring of support from customers, with many stopping by for one last meal.
Yniguez said rising food and supply costs ultimately made it difficult to continue operating. She pointed to significant increases in the price of meat and other goods over the past several years, adding that higher expenses forced the restaurant to raise prices.
The closure comes amid other recent business shutdowns in Albuquerque, including Chocolate Dude in Nob Hill and Red Door Brewing Company’s downtown location.
Yniguez said one of the most difficult parts of closing is saying goodbye to the staff she considers family. As the restaurant enters its final weeks, she expressed gratitude to customers and the community for their support.
My Mom’s will remain open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. through July 31.
