Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –Lindy’s Diner will no longer be a fixture in downtown Albuquerque as the structure will be demolished beginning Monday. The Bliss Building was home to the longtime diner until it partially collapsed on April 27th. The area has been secured since then with road closures at Fifth Street and Central Avenue remaining throughout the demolition process. There were concerns about hazardous materials at the site but city officials have said no asbestos was found in the debris after the restaurant’s collapse. The demolition is expected to continue over the coming days and city officials are urging drivers and pedestrians to avoid the immediate area and follow all posted detours and restrictions.
