BERNALILLO COUNTY, N.M. — Plans are moving forward on a new phase of the Alameda Drain Trail, with county leaders inviting the public to weigh in on the project.
Officials will host a community meeting Tuesday evening to review proposed improvements and gather feedback on Phase 6 of the trail. The expansion would run along the west side of Second Street, from Alameda Boulevard to Vista Azul Lane.
Current plans call for a 12-foot-wide paved multi-use trail designed for pedestrians, cyclists, and other users. The project could also include landscaping, signage, and water quality and erosion control improvements along the corridor.
County staff and project consultants are expected to provide an overview of the proposal during the meeting, followed by an opportunity for attendees to ask questions and share input. Written comments will also be accepted.
Construction timing has not yet been determined.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Raymond G. Sanchez Community Center. Officials say additional opportunities for public comment will be available after the meeting as planning continues.
