Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — Today the Cibola National Forest will starts Stage 1 fire restrictions in the Forest. Those restrictions cover the Mt. Taylor, Magdalena, Mountainair and Sandia ranger districts through Aug. 31st unless officials lift them earlier. Fires, campfires, charcoal grills and coal and wood stoves are only allowed in developed campsites and picnic areas where agency-built fire rings or grills are available. Campfires are banned at all dispersed camping sites. Propane stoves, lanterns and heaters may be used in areas cleared of flammable materials within 3 feet if they meet manufacturer safety specifications and have on and off switches.
