Alamogordo, NM (KKOB)- An anti-drug operation in Otero County has resulted in the arrest of a known drug trafficking leader in the area and the seizure of fentanyl and Methamphetamines. Agents with the White Mountain Drug Task Force and Alamogordo Police Department, executed a search warrant as part of a months long investigation into drug trafficking in the area. Over 175 grams of Meth, 1 gram of Fentanyl powder, zipper style packaging bags, a digital scale and other items were seized inside a residence. 48-year old Edward John Poist was arrested in connection to the investigation and charged with several counts involving trafficking of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. A records check through the Interstate Identification Index revealed that Poist was previously convicted in 2009 in Otero County for trafficking controlled substance.
