Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –APD is increasing patrols throughout the Bosque in an effort to prevent fires as the fire danger is expected to remain high this season. Chief Cecily Barker said in a release, “fires in the Bosque can spread quickly, especially during dry and windy conditions. Our officers are increasing patrols and using every available resource to identify hazards early and respond quickly when needed.” APD’s Open Space Unit Officers are increasing their visibility using boat patrols, ATV’s, bicycles and by foot in high risk areas. Drones will also be deployed to aid officers through difficult-to-access areas. APD is encouraging anyone who sees suspicious activity in the Bosque to call 242 – COPS.
