Santa Fe, NM (Santa Fe police say a traffic stop led to a dangerous chase on Interstate 25 and a fiery crash.
Santa Fe police arrested a 39-year-old man after a chase on the wrong side of Interstate 25 that ended in a crash and vehicle fire south of the city.
Police say officers first tried to stop Joseph Rodriguez after seeing him performing donuts in a dirt lot. When he didn’t pull over, a pursuit began. During the chase, 911 operators received several calls reporting erratic driving and a vehicle traveling against traffic on I-25. Police say spike strips were deployed, and a Santa Fe officer rammed Rodriguez’s vehicle twice.
The chase ended when Rodriguez crashed into a tree in the median.
