Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) – The Las Cruces Fire Department and NM State Police came to the aid of a person who fell into an abandoned mine shaft in the Organ Mountains on Monday. Las Cruces FD and NMSP received a call about someone falling into the mine shaft. They say the person fell from a rope and was trapped below the surface without a way out. The person found an area where a cell call could be made to 911. Rescuers found the shaft and used a rope system to bring the person out. No injuries other than rope burns to the individuals hands were reported.
