Edgewood, NM (KKOB) – A preliminary agreement has been reached between the town of Edgewood and Santa Fe County to continue providing fire and emergency medical services. The proposed joint powers agreement would cost about two-point-27 million dollars, paid monthly over 18 and a half years. If approved by both governments and the New Mexico Secretary of Finance, the agreement would take effect July first, one day after the current contract expires.
Officials say the new deal is aimed at maintaining uninterrupted fire and EMS coverage for Edgewood residents. Santa Fe County commissioners are scheduled to review the proposal during a special meeting Friday afternoon, where public comment will be taken and potential action considered.
Final approval is still required before the agreement can move forward.
