Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — The Albuquerque Sunport has finished installing a new lighting system on one of its runways. Runway 3-21 now features LED lights, replacing a halogen system that dated back nearly 30 years. Airport officials say the upgrades will significantly reduce power consumption. The $3.2 million project was funded through a mix of city dollars and federal aviation funding. Improvements were also made to pavement sensors used on the Sunport’s primary runway.
