ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO – As if one storm wasn’t enough, New Mexico is bracing for round two.
After yesterday’s system soaked communities and dropped up to six inches of snow in the mountains, another winter storm is moving in today, promising more snow, rain, and strong winds.
What We’ve Seen So Far
- Ski resorts picked up 1–6 inches of snow in the past 24 hours.
- Albuquerque logged 0.59 inches of rain at the Sunport—already above the January average.
What’s Coming
- The second system pushes into western New Mexico this afternoon, spreading statewide tonight through Friday.
- Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories are in effect, including Union County, where heavy snow, gusty winds, and hazardous travel are expected through Friday 8 PM.
- Wind Advisories remain in place until 5 PM, with gusts up to 50 mph.
The Weekend Outlook
- Snow showers may linger Friday before skies clear.
- Expect below-normal temperatures statewide, with some of the coldest lows of the season Saturday morning.
- A gradual warm-up returns early next week, with milder Albuquerque temps by Monday.
