Albuquerque, NM – Drivers across New Mexico are paying a little more at the pump this week. According to AAA New Mexico’s Weekend Gas Watch, the statewide average for regular unleaded is $2.64 per gallon, up two cents from last week. Prices remain 22 cents lower than this time last year.
- Las Cruces: $2.65 (highest among major cities)
- Santa Fe: $2.59 (lowest)
- Albuquerque: Around $2.63
The national average sits at $2.82 per gallon, down a penny from last week and 25 cents less than a year ago. Analysts say this slight dip reflects steady crude oil prices and strong global supply.
Crude oil prices remain largely unchanged from late 2025. OPEC+, the coalition of oil-exporting countries, announced it will not increase production in the first quarter of 2026 due to lower demand. This decision, combined with strong supply, is helping keep gas prices relatively affordable.
AAA says prices could fluctuate slightly in coming weeks, but major spikes aren’t expected unless global supply changes. Motorists can track real-time prices and plan routes using the revamped AAA mobile app, which also offers traffic updates, discounts, and roadside assistance.
