SANTA FE – The New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH) is reporting a possible measles exposure in Albuquerque after a traveler from South Carolina, later diagnosed with measles, spent the night in the city.
Officials say the traveler stayed at the Quality Inn, 450 Paisano St. NE, from 11:45 p.m. on December 28 through 7 a.m. on December 29, 2025.
Anyone who was at the hotel during that time should:
- Check their measles vaccination status
- Monitor for symptoms for 21 days, including fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, and a rash that typically starts on the face and spreads downward.
Measles is highly contagious and can spread from four days before to four days after the rash appears.
For guidance, contact your healthcare provider or call the NMDOH Helpline at 1-833-SWNURSE (1-833-796-8773). Additional information is available at measles.doh.nm.gov.
New Mexico has not reported a measles case since mid-August, though the state saw 100 cases in 2025.
