Tijeras, NM (KKOB) – A 1-year-old infant died after employees reportedly found the baby unconscious and not breathing at a Tijeras daycare center in Tijeras.
Just after noon Wednesday September 9, Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived at the New Mexico Early Learning Academy, on NM 333. The child was transported to a local hospital, where the child later died. This incident remains under investigation. At this time, there are no indications of foul play or neglect.
Parents said they received text messages from the daycare early in the afternoon informing them about the incident.
New Mexico Early Learning Academy staff said that the school will be closed for the remainder of the week. The school will also provide counselors and grief-support resources for those in need.
