ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Thousands of Verizon Wireless customers across the country reported service disruptions Wednesday morning, with users in New Mexico among those experiencing problems.
According to outage-tracking website Downdetector, reports of issues climbed rapidly throughout the morning. More than 2,400 users had reported problems by 10:10 a.m. Pacific Time, a number that grew to more than 5,000 reports by 10:32 a.m. and more than 8,000 reports by 10:52 a.m. Most complaints involved mobile phone service.
The outage appeared to affect customers in several parts of New Mexico. Reports posted through outage monitoring services indicated users in Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Los Lunas, and Socorro were experiencing service interruptions, dropped calls, loss of signal, and phones displaying”SOS” or “Emergency Calls Only” messages.
Downdetector’s outage map showed Albuquerque and Santa Fe among the locations with elevated reports of Verizon problems Wednesday morning. Users also reported issues with mobile data and text messaging services.
As of late Wednesday morning, Verizon had not publicly identified the cause of the reported disruption.
