Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –Monsoonal moisture has significantly reduced wildfire danger prompting the lifting of fire restrictions across the Carson National Forest. The decision follows several days of sustained rainfall, higher humidity levels and low fire danger. Although temporary fire restrictions have been lifted, visitors are reminded that permanent, year-round fire safety regulations remain in effect. Fireworks continue to be prohibited on national forest lands and campers must full extinguish campfires before leaving them unattended. Forest officials encourage visitors to remain aware of changing weather conditions especially during afternoon thunderstorms as lightning has sparked several small fires over the past week.
