Saying they need more time to obtain regulatory approvals, PNM’s parent company and the private equity firm seeking to acquire it have extended the deadline for their proposed merger agreement. The new date is now May 31st of 2027 for TXNM Energy and Blackstone Infrastructure to meet approval from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the NM Public Regulation Commission. The deal in NM has received pushback from citizens and regulators. Concerns over the possibility of higher utility bills is one major issue. The NMPRC is hosting a six-hour public comment on July 28th at UNM’s Student Union Building from 1-7 pm.
