Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — In-N-Out is getting closer, Albuquerque! Although the Duke City is still waiting for the hamburger chains first place to open, on Thursday the city commission approved plans for a second location at Cottonwood Mall. Developers have won approval to amend the Mall’s site plan so they can add a 3,887-square-foot restaurant with a drive-through near Dillard’s. In-N-Out says the project will be built in an underused part of the mall’s parking lot, with 62 parking spaces and is not expected to create parking problems for shoppers. In addition, the company has asked to work with “Urban Forestry” on landscaping issues, and to find the best way to preserve existing trees in the parking lot, which could include removing and replanting them elsewhere. In the meantime, a third In-N-Out location is still in the early planning stages by Coors and Saint Joseph’s near St. Pius X High School.
