SANTA FE, N.M. — Three people were arrested Thursday following a multi-agency law enforcement operation targeting suspected fentanyl trafficking at a Santa Fe hotel.
According to the Santa Fe Police Department, the arrests came after an ongoing street-level narcotics investigation led detectives to the Hotel Inn Santa Fe, located at 3011 Cerrillos Road. Investigators alleged that fentanyl was being distributed in the area and from a hotel room at the property.
At approximately 3:45 p.m. Thursday, members of the SFPD Narcotics Unit, Region III Narcotics Task Force, Santa Fe Police SWAT Team, K-9 Unit, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team, and the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team executed a search warrant at the hotel.
During the operation, authorities issued a community alert asking nearby residents and businesses to shelter in place and avoid the area. The alert was lifted about 30 minutes later.
Police said the search resulted in the seizure of approximately 20 grams of suspected fentanyl powder and a stolen firearm.
The following arrests were made:
- Levonn Tafoya, 41, of Santa Fe, charged with trafficking a controlled substance involving fentanyl.
- Ramon Samaniega, 29, of Santa Fe, charged with felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm, and tampering with evidence.
- Alberto Treto Rodriguez, 37, of Santa Fe, arrested on an outstanding felony warrant involving charges of kidnapping, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and battery against a household member.
All three were booked into the Santa Fe County Adult Detention Center.
Santa Fe Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
