ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — More than 200 local students are spending part of their summer on the basketball court as part of the Summer of Nonviolence Youth Basketball Camp at Albuquerque High School.
The free camp, now in its second year, is a partnership between Albuquerque Community Safety and Bernalillo County. Organizers say the program is designed to promote teamwork, respect, sportsmanship, and positive relationships while helping young athletes develop their basketball skills.
The camp serves students in first through eighth grade and is being led by members of the Albuquerque High School boys basketball team, who are working directly with participants throughout the program.
County and city leaders say the camp is part of broader efforts to provide youth with positive activities and mentorship opportunities during the summer months.
