Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) – Multiple agencies are working together on a large-scale cleanup effort in Albuquerque’s Bosque aimed at reducing wildfire hazards and addressing safety concerns. Bernalillo County says crews cleared 31 sites during the first week of the initiative and removed more than four tons of trash, debris, and other materials that could contribute to fire risk. The project focuses on the area between Rio Bravo Boulevard and Interstate 40 and includes the removal of unauthorized encampments.
Officials say outreach teams are also working to connect unhoused individuals with available services. The effort brings together county and city departments, including fire rescue, open space, behavioral health, law enforcement, and the Middle Rio Grande Conservancy District.
Residents visiting the Bosque can expect to see crews and equipment working in designated cleanup areas over the coming weeks.
