ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — City officials and law enforcement agencies from across New Mexico gathered in Albuquerque on Wednesday for the annual Law Enforcement Memorial.
The ceremony was held at Civic Plaza as part of National Police Week, honoring officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.
Leaders in attendance included Mayor Tim Keller, Albuquerque Police Chief Cecily Barker, and officials from the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office and New Mexico State Police.
Organizers say the memorial recognizes the service and sacrifice of fallen officers, as well as the impact on their families and communities. Names of officers who died in the line of duty were remembered during the ceremony.
Following the event, the Albuquerque Police Department, Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office, and New Mexico State Police hosted a private luncheon for the families of fallen officers.
Officials say the gathering provided additional time for reflection and support among loved ones.
