Santa Fe, NM (KKOB) – Santa Fe police arresting one of their own on Wednesday on DWI charges. According to court records, 33-year old Maureen Lujan, a senior officer with SFPD, had called to work to say she would be arriving late. Once she arrived, another officer described noticing a strong smell of alcohol on Lujan. When she was questioned, she admitted to consuming “a lot” of alcohol before going to work and told officers that she had been in a fight with her boyfriend. Lujan who lives in Rio Rancho, drove from her home to her job at the Santa Fe Police Department. After completing a sobriety test, her blood-alcohol level was reported a point-18 and point-19, which are more than double the legal limit.
She was taken into custody and booked into the Santa Fe County Detention Center.
Santa Fe PD says she will remain on “alternate duty status” with no public contact until the investigation is completed by the Internal Affairs Unit.
