The FBI has released newly obtained surveillance images from the home of 84‑year‑old Nancy Guthrie, the mother of “Today” show host Savannah Guthrie, who disappeared from her Tucson‑area residence on January 31. The images show a masked individual carrying what appears to be a backpack or tools, and investigators say the person appeared to tamper with the security camera at her front door the morning she vanished.
Authorities say the search has entered its second week and remains urgent due to Guthrie’s medical needs. She has a pacemaker and requires daily medication, leading investigators to classify her as a vulnerable adult. The FBI is offering up to $50,000 for information that leads to her recovery or the arrest of anyone involved in her disappearance.
As investigators continue to review ransom notes sent to multiple media outlets, the FBI has also expanded public awareness efforts. Digital billboards featuring Guthrie’s photo and tip‑line information have been activated across the country — including in Albuquerque — to encourage residents to report anything they may know about the case. These billboards have appeared alongside emotional public pleas from Guthrie’s family, urging nationwide help in locating her.
Guthrie was last seen at her home in the Catalina Foothills outside Tucson. Investigators later confirmed that blood found on her front porch matched her DNA, and authorities believe she was taken against her will. Despite multiple leads, no suspects have been publicly identified, and the FBI continues to ask anyone with information to call 1‑800‑CALL‑FBI or submit a tip at tips.fbi.gov.
