Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — New Mexico is providing nearly $386,000 in grants to help schools limit cellphone use during the school day. The funding will go to 33 schools for items such as lockable phone pouches, device lockers, and technology that can restrict access to school networks. The program is a partnership between the Office of Broadband Access and Expansion and the Public Education Department. State officials say the goal is to reduce classroom distractions and keep students focused on learning.
