Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –As cooler weather makes its way into Albuquerque, the city’s Animal Welfare Department is now accepting new or gently used, medium to large dog houses. You can drop off a doghouse at either the Eastside shelter at 8920 Lomas NE or the Westside shelter at 11800 Sunset Gardens Rd., SW. You can also make a financial donation at either shelter location or online with non-profit, Albuquerque Kennel Kompadres. Albuquerque Animal Protection reminds pet owners that providing a properly sized doghouse for exclusively outdoor dogs is required by law. Low and moderate income Albuquerque residents can apply to receive a free doghouse through the Animal Welfare Department’s Doghouse Lottery Program.
