ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Albuquerque police have released new details about a fatal crash that claimed the life of a pedestrian on the city’s West Side Monday morning.
Officers were called to the area of Central Avenue and 106th Street Northwest around 7:30 a.m. following reports that a vehicle had struck a pedestrian.
According to the Albuquerque Police Department, investigators determined that an adult male pedestrian was walking west along the south shoulder of eastbound Central Avenue when he was struck by a white box truck traveling in the right lane of eastbound traffic.
The pedestrian died at the scene.
Police said the truck driver remained at the location following the crash and was arrested on outstanding warrants. Investigators have not indicated that the warrants were related to the crash.
APD’s Fatal Crash Team is continuing to investigate the circumstances that led to the collision. The identity of the pedestrian has not been released.
