Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) – A new way of running city government is what Mayor Keller said he wants as he goes through his third term. Keller gave his ninth State of the City Address on Saturday, and is pushing a strategy centered on sharing public resources, reducing government barriers and improving all residents daily lives by putting abundance at the forefront of our public policy instead of scarcity.
Keller announced a facility rental program that will allow families to rent city-owned spaces, including community centers and theaters, for recreational use such as quinceañeras.
Keller said the city will continue investing in parks, public spaces and support services while expanding mental health and addiction programs and continuing efforts to reduce crime.
Mayor Keller promoted that crime is down in the city, but he admitted that doesn’t mean that people feel safer and said that APD will continue to focus on violent crime, drug houses and businesses associated with illegal drug activity.
During his State of the City Address, four people were removed from the crowd for attempting to interrupt the proceedings.
