Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –Tonight’s City Council meeting will cover several major proposals involving housing including a homeless shelter and affordable housing funding. The city’s zoning hearing examiner earlier this year approved the plans to convert the former Ramada by Wyndham on Yale into an overnight shelter. The Yale Village Neighborhood Association and D-Love’s Restaurants appealed the city’s decision. Councilors will vote tonight to either accept or reject the appeal. Also under consideration councilors will decide on using $350,000 in state funding for an affordable housing project called The Cottages at 161 Chama in southeast Albuquerque. And finally a proposal for construction of a hotel near the Sawmill Market authorizing up to $40 million in bonds for the project will be discussed by city council. The city council meeting begins at 5pm at City Hall.
