Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — Santa Fe leaders are considering a major investment in public safety technology. A proposal before the city council would expand the Santa Fe Police Department’s drone program through a $2.2 million contract. The department plans to deploy six additional drones from locations across the city, using them to gather information at emergency scenes and assist officers responding to calls. Supporters say the program could improve response capabilities, while critics have voiced concerns about the use of surveillance technology and its effect on civil liberties.
