Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — Starting in August the City of Santa Fe will be rolling out a wave of automated speed and noise enforcement systems. This following their City Council unanimously approving a multiyear agreement with Jenoptik Smart Mobility Solutions to provide six mobile enforcement trailers equipped with automated speed cameras and noise-monitoring technology. The trailers will operate around the clock, and will be strategically placed in locations based on public complaints, traffic studies and crash data. The Santa Fe Police Department says it will provide a public education campaign before enforcement begins, including advance notice of camera positions. In addition City leaders say that every potential violation will be reviewed by law enforcement personnel before being sent out. Revenue generated through the citations will fund the cameras, and any additional revenue will be dedicated to the police department’s safe driving initiatives along with other traffic safety efforts.
