ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — New Mexico State Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred Thursday in southeast Albuquerque.
According to state police, the incident happened at a residence in the 12700 block of Piru Boulevard SE and involved deputies with the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office, the Sandoval County Sheriff’s Office, and agents with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
Authorities said the suspect sustained minor injuries during the incident and was taken into custody. No deputies or DEA agents were injured.
State Police have not released details about what led to the encounter or the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
As is standard procedure in officer-involved shootings, the New Mexico State Police will conduct the investigation.
The case remains active, and additional information is expected to be released as the investigation continues.
