Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — Carson National Forest officials are reminding the public that the annual closure of Wheeler Peak and three nearby trails, Williams Lake, Wheeler Summit and Lost Lake will take place once again this August. The closure is due to Taos Pueblo’s use of the area for private tribal ceremonies each summer. The Williams Lake basin, accessible from Taos Ski Valley and the ridgeline from east of Taos Cone to Simpson Peak are included in the closures.
