Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –Another scam is in the works and this one involves fraudulent messages targeting families of incarcerated individuals. The Second Judicial District Court issued the warning today indicating the fraudulent messages request money in exchange for a family member’s release from custody or for an ankle monitor. Officials said the messages are made to appear like a court order and include a court seal as well as a false judge’s signature. The Second Judicial District Court reminds the community that all official correspondence from the court is sent through the mail and they’re asking individuals with any questions to call the court. They also remind the public that the court will never request payment of any kind in exchange for a person’s release from custody and the public should not respond to messages or send any money.
