Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — Albuquerque’s Gateway West shelter, which has 660-beds for individuals experiencing homelessness now has new amenities for dogs who are residing there with their unhoused owners. There are now multiple outdoor dog yards and a grooming sink for resident pups. The facility already had multiple small dog yards available, and now the expansion to a larger dog run and yards allows for larger breeds to safely play. The yards also now contain shaded spots and benches for increased comfort and relaxation. The Greater Good Construction Team also installed dog enrichment areas to make the spaces more interactive. The newly installed grooming sink will allow owners to bathe their pets, which can help prevent skin issues, parasites, and odors.
