ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Albuquerque Fire Rescue crews responded to a second fire in less than a month at a vacant motel near Coors Boulevard and Interstate 40.
Firefighters were called to the former Motel 6 on Iliff around 1:11 a.m. Tuesday for reports of an outside fire. When crews arrived, they found smoke and flames coming from a first-floor room and were able to bring the fire under control in about 19 minutes.
Officials say the damage was mostly contained to that room, and no injuries were reported.
This is the second fire at the location in recent weeks. On May 2, crews responded to another fire at the property and extinguished it within about 15 minutes. No injuries were reported in that incident.
The city shut down the motel in early 2025 after identifying it as a hotspot for crime.
