Las Cruces police are investigating a four‑vehicle crash that left seven people injured Wednesday evening, including two pedestrians who suffered critical injuries.
The crash happened shortly after 6 p.m. on Jan. 28, 2026, at the intersection of Lohman Avenue and Walton Boulevard. According to investigators, a 56‑year‑old woman driving a Hyundai Palisade experienced a medical episode and briefly lost consciousness, causing her vehicle to veer out of its lane.
Police say the SUV first sideswiped a GMC Sierra before continuing through the intersection and crashing into a Chevrolet Silverado that was stopped in a northbound lane preparing to turn onto eastbound Lohman. The impact pushed both vehicles over a curb and onto a sidewalk, where they struck two men, ages 40 and 48.
Both pedestrians were transported to MountainView Regional Medical Center. The 48‑year‑old was later airlifted to University Medical Center of El Paso due to the severity of his injuries.
Five motorists also sustained non‑life‑threatening injuries in the chain‑reaction crash.
First responders on scene provided lifesaving care, including CPR performed on the 48‑year‑old pedestrian before he regained a pulse. Firefighters treated seven total patients and coordinated multiple hospital transports.
Police say no charges have been filed, and the crash remains under investigation. A section of eastbound Lohman Avenue between Walnut Street and Walton Boulevard was temporarily closed while crews cleared wreckage and assisted victims.
