Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –The NM Department of Transportation announced Saturday that it partially reopened U.S. 60 west of Socorro after the road was damaged due to recent flooding. The opening only applies to motor vehicles and not oversized and overweight commercial vehicles. Work on the road is continuing and restrictions will remain in place until further notice. According to NMDOT, crews have been bringing in backfill and large rocks to rebuild areas by a bridge that the flooding had eroded. The bridge will remain under a reduced speed limit of 45 mph and drivers are asked to use caution when traveling through the area.
