Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — Colorado Parks and Wildlife officials report that on Sunday morning a bear entered the bedroom of a 17-year-old girl in Durango, Colorado and attacked her while she was asleep. Officials say the bear ripped the window screen off and was able to open a cracked window and entered the room. The bear ripped down a curtain and woke up the teenager who was sleeping. The woman told officers she pulled blankets up and tried to hide when she saw the animal enter the room. The bear then started sniffing around the room. The teenager said she accidentally made a noise and that’s when the bear swiped at her and she felt the bear’s paw hit her stomach. The animal then left the room after the teenager screamed and sat up. The bear then re-entered the room and exited after the teen continued to yell. The bear never returned. Wildlife managers said the teenager had three scratch marks and bruising on her stomach where the bear swiped at her. Officials are still searching for the bear.
