Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –Just over $27 million dollars is headed to New Mexico. Those funds provided by the Environmental Protection Agency to replace lead pipes throughout the state. The money comes from the Drinking Water State Revolving Funds, with states running the financial assistance programs. According to EPA, they’re distributing funds based on the best available information on the location of approximately 4 million lead service lines across the country. Communities can use the money to identify lead pipes that deliver water to homes, plan removal projects and replace those pipes.
