Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –Albuquerque’s International Sunport is ready for the rush of travelers expected through the airport over the next several days during Balloon Fiesta. Transportation Security Administration officials have been preparing for this event knowing that tens of thousands of additional travelers will be leaving Albuquerque following balloon fiesta festivities. TSA Federal Security Director for NM, Richard Rzucidlo told KKOB about those preparations. Rzucidlo says there are 8 available security lines they can utilize to handle the extra travelers coming through the Sunport. He also said they have CT technology that will reduce the number of bag checks at security. The volume of passengers is expected to be heaviest from Sunday, October 4th through Monday, October 12th with increases in passengers up to 50% of normal traffic at the Sunport. TSA is reminding passengers to arrive at least 2 hours before your departure time and be aware of contents in your carry-on luggage to avoid any delays through security. They also recommend TSA PreCheck Touchless ID as a more efficient identification verification process without the need to show a physical i.d.
