Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is seeking public comment on a proposal to remove feral horses from the Sevilleta National Wildlife Refuge. The agency has released a draft Environmental Assessment evaluating the proposed removal as part of its effort to manage refuge resources and protect wildlife habitat. Sevilleta encompasses four major ecological regions and supports hundreds of species of wildlife and more than 1,200 documented plant species. The public comment period opened Aug. 19th and will remain open through Sept. 17th. Comments will be considered as the agency evaluates the proposed action and makes its final decision.
