Santa Fe, NM (KKOB) – Santa Fe Police have charged the brother of a woman killed on Saturday September 5 in an accidental shooting of Involuntary Manslaughter. 21-year old Yasell Sandoval Sigala is charged in the killing of his sister 24-year old Alexia Verdugo Sigala.
The incident happened on Saturday afternoon during a family gathering at a residence near Rufina Street and Atocha Road in Santa Fe.
Alexia received a gunshot wound to the torso after her brother says he unintentionally discharged a rifle. She died after being airlifted to UNMH.
Alexia was a basketball and volleyball coach and a former student athlete at Capital High School in Santa Fe.
