Santa Fe, NM (KKOB) – The trial by the State of New Mexico against Facebook will begin today in Santa Fe.
The trial is part of a lawsuit filed in 2021, that claims Facebook failed to warn users their data was wrongly taken and stored.
Two prior lawsuits by the state against Meta, resulted in a jury and a judge deciding against Facebook’s parent company.
Last month, a Meta was ordered by a Santa Fe judge to pay $567 million and make changes to teenager accounts.
That amount was on top of the $375 million in civil penalties from a jury trial verdict where Meta was found to have committed over 70,000 violations of the New Mexico Unfair Practices Act.
