Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — The U.S. Forest Service has begun a post-fire assessment of the Frijoles Fire burn area in northern New Mexico. The review covers nearly 15,500 acres burned by the lightning-caused wildfire east of Cundiyo. Specialists are using satellite imagery and field inspections to measure burn severity and evaluate possible impacts to watersheds, wildlife habitat, and water supplies. Officials say the assessment will help determine whether emergency stabilization work is needed once fire activity subsides.
