ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — New Mexico United continued its remarkable run of form Wednesday night, scoring two late goals to defeat Lexington SC 2-1 and extend its unbeaten streak to 13 matches across league and cup play.
After falling behind 1-0 early in the second half, United mounted another comeback in front of the home crowd at Rio Grande Credit Union Field at Isotopes Park.
Defender Kipp Keller leveled the match in the 73rd minute with his third goal of the season. Just five minutes later, Niall Reid-Stephen scored the go-ahead goal, giving the Black and Yellow a lead they would not surrender.
Head coach Dennis Sanchez credited his team’s resilience and ability to adapt throughout matches.
“No matter what the game is giving us, or the opponent is giving us, we’re finding a way,” Sanchez said after the win. “I think that’s the art of being a champion.”
The victory marked a major milestone for the club, becoming New Mexico United’s 100th regular-season win in franchise history.
The night also included a personal milestone for defender Zico Bailey, who made his 100th appearance for New Mexico United.
Bailey called the accomplishment a source of pride, noting that reaching 100 matches with one club is something few professional players achieve.
With the win, New Mexico United continues to build momentum as it chases postseason success and remains in the hunt for the USL Championship Players’ Shield.
