Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –The Frijoles Fire has grown to 11, 335 acres and containment has dropped to 9% as the fire grew northeast into the Pecos Wilderness where fuel and terrain are feeding the fire. Hotshots have completed several miles of containment line from Rio Frijoles toward the south. Lower chances of precipitation and humidity in the area are making it difficult for crews to fight the fire. The road closure for NM 503 between County Road 98 and State Road 76 continues and the Santa Fe National Forest issued a temporary forest area closure to include the Pecos Wilderness area on the Espanola Ranger District. Fire managers will host a community meeting tonight at 6pm at the Santa Fe Convention Center to share more information to the public.
