Raton, NM (KKOB)- Investigations continue Monday into a shooting involving State Police and officers of the Raton Police Department where a man was shot and killed by officers. The incident happened on Saturday night when Raton PD responded to a domestic violence incident on Third Street and while officers were speaking with the woman involved, 68-year old Paul Andrew Terry came out of the house and fired several shots at the officers.
State Police were called to the scene and after several attempts to negotiate with Terry to come out of the home, they were not successful. Meanwhile, Terry kept shooting at police from inside the home and at one point both State Police and Raton fired their weapons striking Terry who died on the scene.
No officers were injured but several police vehicles were damaged by gunfire. The investigation is being handled by the State Police Investigations Bureau.
